Just letting you know

Last night we used our Papa Johns gift card to order some pizza for dinner. I decided to get all granola girl-ish and get whole wheat crust. Because normally I am an advocate of whole wheat.

For the record, the Papa's whole wheat crust does not taste good. In fact, it gets worse with every bite. It doesn't taste like the Papa's pizza at all, which is normally a favorite of mine.

So, if you're having a granola moment while ordering pizza please save yourself some disappointment. Go for the white zero-nutritional-value crust. You won't regret it. At least I wouldn't.

P.S. Anyone want some leftover pizza?

Do yourself a favor...

...and watch this movie. It is one of the best films I've ever seen. Seriously. Not only was it totally clean (which is almost unheard of these days), but the story was absolutely beautiful and it touched my heart.

And, in case you're looking for something else wonderful to watch, I will highly recommend this:

Have a wonderful day!

Happy Resurrection Sunday!

Today, I'm grateful for Jesus Christ. I know He lives. I know He loves me and died with me in mind. He has made it possible for me to conquer physical and spiritual death. To be able to spend eternity with the ones I love. He has suffered and endured all things so that He may know how to comfort me in my times of need. It really blows my mind to imagine someone loving me that much. I don't think I could ever repay that kind of love because I'm too selfish. I also think that He doesn't expect me to. He loves me anyway, as imperfect and selfish as I am.

This morning Barry asked Alton why we celebrate Easter. He said something like "for the Easter eggs and candy." Um, yeah, obviously we have some work to do. Barry sat him down and told him the real reason for Easter. This evening, after naps, I asked Alton why we celebrate Easter and he said "for Jesus." That made me feel much better! It's so easy to get caught up in the worldly hype, which means we need to try a lot harder to focus on the real deal.

Church was wonderful today. I was sort of dreading singing with the war choir (for reasons I won't go into) and singing my solo in Sacrament meeting (because my stomach twists itself into knots until I finally finish the performance). But, I decided to pray that Heavenly Father would help me to forget myself today and help me to think about Jesus and to show others how much I love Him. Even though it was another typical busy Sunday, it was truly a wonderful day. I felt so blessed to be filled with the spirit and to feel so much love for my Savior. And I felt His love for me, which is the most wonderful feeling.

I want to be more like Him.

Many of you have probably watched this video already. But, I just can't get enough of it. If you'd like to feel uplifted and to feel more love for the Savior, then please watch this!

Have a wonderful day!

Mile High Cheesecake Layered Chocolate Cake

This is the cake I made for Barry's birthday. I emailed him a list of several options (all recipes I've been dying to try...just waiting for an excuse) and this is the one he chose. Boy am I glad he did. It was DIVINE! Not to mention the fact that I had so much fun making it. To be honest, I really don't even like cheesecake, but I loved this cake! I got the recipe from Jenny over at Picky Palate. Check out her blog to get the recipe (and take a look around...I've tried so many of her recipes and they're all great)!

[Oh, and I made a couple of changes. Because I don't love cheesecake, I decided to just use canned frosting (instead of her very decadent, cheesecake flavored frosting...I thought it might just be too much for me, although Barry probably would have loved it). It was yummy. And I had some Nutella in the pantry, so I drizzled that on top instead of the melted chocolate chips.]

More Awesome Recipes

SUNDAY BAKER...one of my favorite blogs.

Please try her Blueberry Scones and the Ham and Swiss Puffs.

You won't regret it (unless you hate blueberries... and ham... and swiss cheese)! =) I made these for a brunch this morning and they were all so good (not to mention, super easy to make...my kind of recipe)!

Food...

I think about food. All. Day. Long. I am a serious foodaholic. And, I admit that I don't typically think of new ways to use up my spinach or how to dress up my carrots. I think about brownies, cookies, cakes, chocolate, and BREAD (anything belonging to the bread category). I really love to bake. And then eat.

Many days (okay, most days) when the kids go down for their naps I immediately sit down at the computer to check out my google reader (this is how I choose to spend my free time, does that say anything about me??). And sure I have an assortment of friends' and money-saving blogs saved there. And I do enjoy looking at them. But, there is also a plethora of FOOD blogs. I just love them. They're my favorite. I LOVE reading through recipes and looking at the beautiful pictures that typically accompany them these days. I'm addicted.

Since I'm trying to lose those last pounds from pregnancy (ahem...my baby is 16 months old), I save the really fattening recipes for my "free" day each week. It's something to look forward to.

Anyway, I LOVE FOOD. Food is good. Amen.

P.S. Are you a foodaholic?
